AboutGuriga Ornaje
Guriga Oranje (GO) is a non-profit diaspora organisation that aims to advocate, promote, connect and organise Dutch-Somali communities in Somalia and the Netherlands. ‘Guriga’ means ‘House’ in the Somali language and ‘Oranje’ means Orange in Dutch, which is the famous last name of the Dutch royal family and the colour of the nation as it is synonyms with the national identity of The Netherlands).
Guriga Oranje was started in 2016 by small group of Dutch-Somalis in Mogadishu. They all had moved back to Somalia or have been here for some time. Guriga Oranje consists largely of business investors and professionals who play an active role in the development of Somalia economically, politically and socially. Our members are pioneers of a ‘Made in Somalia’ brands, products, service providers in different sectors.
Guriga Oranje builds bridges, beyond than between Somalia and the Netherlands. We believe that by bringing together a variety of people, from diverse backgrounds, contributes in the sustainable development of Somalia and connects-the-dots. GO aims to have a collaborative relationships with Dutch Embassy, Dutch knowledge institutions, NGOs, European embassies and trade and investment promotion institutes.— This places uniquely between the public and private sector, and ushers in a significant increase of bilateral trade and investment.
Guriga Oranje facilitates information and knowledge sharing to the Dutch and Somali companies/organizations and to those looking for information about business, investment opportunities in Somalia and on different thematic areas to enable more effective policy and decision-making.
OUR MISSION
- Provide a cooperation and information platform for Dutch-Somali citizens in Somalia
- Being a partner for the Dutch government regarding Somali diaspora matters in Somalia
- To facilitate and support business relations between Somalia and the Netherlands
- Performe positive lobbying and advocacy activities on behalf of Dutch-Somali citizens in Somalia
- Create an online information-sharing platform for the Dutch-Somali diaspora
- To structure communications to/relations with relevant Somali authorities

- To become a leading diaspora association that creates life-changing, transformational experiences, skills-transfer and investment opportunities
- To create an environment whereby Dutch & Somali investors have access to information on engagement and investment opportunities in both countries

Independence
Guriga Oranje is an independent not-for-profit association, and is not dependent upon any government, commercial, political, ethnic or religious groups, or any other body. Guriga Oranje is not influenced or controlled by others.

Guriga Oranje is founded on and committed to impartiality, regardless of who our clients are. In the execution of its professional services, Guriga Oranje’s conduct is at all times free from discrimination, favoritism, self-interest, bias, or prejudice.
Confidentiality
By virtue of its mission in providing accurate information and advocacy on behalf of Dutch-Somalis, Guriga Oranje is bound to keep confidential all information, arising out of, or in connection with, the execution of professional services.
